SPILKIN, Max. Exporter. Born Riga, Russia, 7th January,
1900; son of Feivish and Riva Spilkin. Came to South Africa 1912. Educated at
Gill College, Somerset East, and Grey High School, Port Elizabeth. Exporter of
wool, mohair, hides, skins and leather. Director of several companies. Member
of Port Elizabeth United Hebrew Institutions. Was Foundation member of Wedgwood
Park Country Club, its first Treasurer (for four years), and its President for
1951. Married; one daughter, Recreations: Golf, bowls. Add.: 32, Pendennis
Court, Humewood, Port Elizabeth.
