ABRAMOWITCH, Sidney Arnold. B.Arch., A.R I.B.A. Architect.
Born Johannesburg 30th November, 1923, son of Elias and Ethel Abramowitch. Educated
at Athlone High School and University of the Witwatersrand. Received Institute
of Architects Award of Merit for best religious building in the Transvaal,
period 1955-1964. Chairman of Public Relations Committee of Transvaal
Provincial Institute of Architects 1958-9, 1959-60. Executive Member, Jewish
Welfare Council, vice-President of Simon Kuper Lodge, B'nai B'rith, Member
Oxford Synagogue. Served with South African Air Force, World War II, University
Air Training Squadron, 1942-44. Married Maja Shatz, April, 1950; two sons, two daughters.
Recreations: Music, painting, tennis, golf. Add.: 21, Seventh Street, Lower
Houghton, Johannesburg.
