Ran a picture framing business for several years then gave that up to become a professional musician, playing as violinist with the Cape Town and other orchestras. Also took up painting and completed many pictures. Keenly interested in communal affairs and is a member of several Jewish organisations. Served with the South African Forces in the First World War. First married 1919; two daughters. Subsequently married Frymet Goldberg, 1953. Recreations: Chess, music, painting. Add.: 11, Mount Valma, 45 Hendon Street, Yeoville, Johannesburg.

LEVY, Jack. Merchant. Born Manchester 27th December, 1895, son of Samuel Jonas and Rachael Levy. Educated in Manchester at Darly Street School. Came to South Africa December, 1921. Hon. Secretary, Claremont Hebrew Congregation, 1926-46. Served with Highlands Light Infantry in World War I; with Cape Garrison Battalion in World War II. Member, Claremont Bowling Club. Married Rebecca Harris 1922; one son, one daughter. Add.: Observatory, P.O. Box 6025, Johannesburg.
