ZINN, Joshua. Director of Companies. Born Lithuania 1893,
son of Eli Nathan and Rachel Zinn. Educated at Yeshiva College of Lida. Founder
of Jewish Folk- banks in Lithuania, 1924- 26, and Chairman of Jewish Folkbank
in Ra- kishki. Committee member, Tarbut Board of Education, 1926. Arrived in
South Africa 1929. Managed clothing factory for 20 years. During First World
War served in East Prussia and Carpathian Mountains; taken prisoner of war to
Germany. Rank: Sergeant-Major. Member of the Yeshiva College; Chairman, for
seven years, of the Hebrew Educational Committee, Germiston; Trustee and
Treasurer of the United Hebrew Institutions. Germiston; was presented with
illuminated address by Congregation, 1962. Lecturer for 23 years with Chevra
Lomdei Torah, Tanach Gemarach and Ein- Yarkon. Married Rachel Levin, 1925; one
son, two daughters. Recreations: Golf, walking, Talmudic study, lecturing.
