SACHS, Louis. M.P.S., F.I.O. (Lond.), F.B.O.A. (Lond.), F.N.A.O. Chemist and Optician. Born Pretoria 18th May, 1912, son of Berrill and Betty Sachs. Educated at Witwatersrand Technical College and University of London, Director of Bed- ford Pharmacy and Managing Director of several property holding companies. Member of the Provincial Council, 1957- 61. Former Executive member, presently Chairman, of the S.A. Board of Jewish Education. Executive member of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Past Chairman, Parent- Teachers' Body of the King David Schools. Past Chairman of the Musical Arts Section of the Jewish Guild; and former soloist in Synagogue choirs. During World War II was Lieutenant in the S.A. Red Cross. Member, Houghton Golf Club. Married Gertie Schneider, 1937; two sons, two daughters. Recreation: Golf.
