SUPER, Arthur Saul. M.A. (Cantab.). Dipl. O. S. (Lond.). Chief Minister, United Progressive Jewish Congregation of Johannesburg. Born Yarmouth, England, 1st July, 1908, son of Rabbi Isaac Jacob and Lena Super. Educated at Cambridge University, Jews' College, London, and Mc-Gill University, Canada, Came to South Africa 1960. Formerly Senior Minister, United Hebrew Congregations, Leeds; Minister, Bayswater Synagogue, London; Educational Director, Shaar Hashamayim, West Mount P.Q., Canada; Editor, "Zionist Review," London; Assistant Editor, "Jerusalem Post," Israel; Editor "Zionist Record," Johannesburg. Chairman, Johannesburg Ecclesiastical Advisory Committee of the S.A. Union for Progressive Judaism. Was Chaplain to the Forces, 1940-45. Author of "Story Time"; "Theodor Herzl"; "Israel, State and Religion"; "The Children's Haggadah"; Editor of the "Zionist Year Book" (1951). Married Tilla Rebecca Hyams; one son, one daughter.
