UTIAN, Harry. Jeweller. Born Poswol, Lithuania, 14th April, 1907; son of Max Samuel and Hessie Rachel Utian. Came to South Africa 1921. Educated at Twist Street School and Commercial High School, Johannesburg. Jeweller and Diamond Merchant and Director of Companies. Has served on SA. Jewellers' Apprenticeship Board (Manufacturing) and S.A. Jewellers' Association. Member of Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home, Jewish Helping Hand, Society for the Jewish Handicapped, S.A. Ort-Oze, S.A. Jewish Orphanage, Bikkur Cholim, I.U.A., etc. Member, Balfour Park Bowling Club. Married Etty Nay, 27th March, 1938; two sons, one daughter. Recreations: Reading, bowls, painting.
