President, Lions Club of Rondebosch, 1966-67: committee member of Rondebosch Hebrew Congregation; member of various communal organisations. Served in Israel Army, 1956-57, Nachal Parachute Division, Sinai Campaign, occupation forces in Gaza Strip. Married Issa Mildred Steiman, 1st June, 1958; three sons.
