WINIK, Nachum. Building Contractor. Born Poland 18th December, 1896, son of Moshe and Malke Winik (his father was a distinguished Talmudical scholar). Educated in Poland and came to South Africa in 1929. Has played a leading part for many years in the Yiddish Cultural Federation and Yiddish Folk- schul, of which he is Vice-Chairman. Executive member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies; Johannesburg Chairman, United Communal Fund. Chairman of the Monument Committee for Jewish Martyrs, which erected the monument to the victims of Nazism in the West Park Jewish Cemetery, Johannesburg.
