SCHNEIDER, Tobias (Teddy). M.D. (Rand). F.R.C.P. (Edin.). Specialist Physician. Born London, England, 1st May, 1905, son of Aaron and Annie Schneider. Came to South Africa 1911. Educated at Johannesburg Jewish Government School, Jeppe High School and University of the Witwatersrand. Visiting Physician, Johannesburg General Hospital; Physician-in-charge, Diabetic Clinic, Johannesburg General Hospital, Past President Southern Transvaal Branch, Medical Association of South Africa, Past President, Medical Graduates Southern Transvaal Branch, Medical Association of South Africa. Past President, Medical Graduated Association, University of the Witwatersrand. Past President, United Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg: past Vice-Chairman, Magen David Adom of Southern Africa. President S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Vice-President, World Federation of Y.M.H.A.S. and Jewish Community Centres; Member of Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. During World War II served as Captain in S.A. Medical Corps, 25th Field Ambulance. Holds the Bronze Medal of the Medical Association of South Africa for distinguished service.
