SCHWEITZER, Herbert. Died 1962. Born Gross Wartenberg, Silesia, 18th October, 1889, son of Moritz and Hulda Schweitzer. Educated at Kaiser Wilhelm Gymnasium, Breslau. Came to South Africa 1933. Founded the Industrial Supply Co. (Pty.) Ltd., wholesalers of chemicals and overseas products; he was Director and main shareholder until 1961, when he retired. He had previously been a Director of a similar firm in Germany. Married Resi Schweitzer, 1921; two sons. His recreations were walking, reading and playing chess. His widow lives at 37, Avenue Normandie, Sea Point, Cape Town.
