Johannesburg, 18th November, 1933; son of Benjamin and Ettie Shefts. Educated
at Athlone High School and University of the Witwatersrand. Previously was
Research Assistant at Bernard Price Institute. Member of various Zionist
Organisation committees, including Nachal Association. Member of Hashomer
Hatzair and Zionist Youth Movement. General Secretary of Kibbutz Nachshon,
1962-65. Member of Brambles Hockey Club (past Chairman) and Varsity Old Boys,
Cape Town. Married Galya Vingrin, 27th March, 1960; one son. Recreation:
