ROBINSON, Shirley Mercia. Housewife and communal worker. Born Cape Town, 28th July, 1933; daughter of Arthur and Leah Lewin. Educated at Ellerslie High School, Sea Point, Cape Town. Council Member, Temple Israel (C.T. Jewish Reform Congregation), since 1962, executive committee member of its Sisterhood since 1960 and its Treasurer of the Sisterhood since 1964; Division Commissioner and Trainer in the Girl Guide Association; also runs Brownie, Guide and Cub groups. Guide Long Service Award 1965. In 1949 was first South African Jewess to be awarded Queen's Guide Award; was only Jewish girl in S.A. Guide contingent to Coronation in 1953 and was last South Africa Guider to gain a Commonwealth Guider's Training Certificate. Married Cyril Philip Robinson, 7th November, 1954; one son, one daughter.
