LEWIN, Arthur. B.A., LL.B., LL.M. Retail Liquor Merchant. Born Oudtshoorn 7th January 1904, son of Moritz and Jenny Lewin. Part-time lecturer at Cape Technical College and University of Cape Town in Law and Procedure. Chairman W.P. Bottle Store Keepers' Association. Hon. Life member, Cape Parliamentary Society; President, Cape Town Boy Scouts Local Association. Formerly Public Relations Officer, National Council for the Liquor Trade and Industry 1954-57. Cape Town City Councillor, 1935-37. Vice-Chairman, S.A. Jewish Ex-Service League; Councillor, Cape Town Jewish Reform Congregation, 1950-62; committee member, Cape Town Jewish Orphanage, 1960-62; delegate to Board of Deputies 1958-62. W.P. Zionist Revisionist Council, 1962-64. Author of "Law, Procedure and Conduct of Meetings in South Africa." During World War II served with U.D.F. as Information and Intelligence Officer in Middle East, North Africa and Italy. Assistant Military Law Officer, G.H.Q.
