LEWIS, Lewis. Motion Picture Producer and Director. Born Cape Town 22nd February, 1906. Educated at Marist Brothers College, Cape Town. Director of various companies. Previously Secretary, Motor Department, Southern Insurance Association, Head Office Cape Town. Founded first Jewish troop of Boy Scouts in Cape Town, approximately 1920, and in 1924 was one of the few Jews selected to represent Boy Scout troop at World Jamboree, Wembley, England. Has made films in over 40 countries, including Israel. Was member of expedition to Tristan da Cunha in 1948. Filmed the Royal visit to South Africa, 1947, on behalf of the Colonial Government and others. Has produced over 200 documentary, medical, educational and travel films.
