LOMEY, Alexander Lomiansky. M.D., Ch.B., D.Phys.Med. (Rand). Specialist in Physical Medicine. Born 24th August, 1900, son of Mendel and Chia Lomey. Educated at Jeppe High School; University of the Witwatersrand; North Western University Medical School, Chicago. Head of the Department of Physical Medicine, Johannesburg General Hospital; Head, sub-departments Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, University of the Witwatersrand, and the Department of Physical Medicine, Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home, Sandringham. Member of Medical Committee of Zionist Federation. In Second World War served with S.A.M.C. as Major. In 1950 led S.A. Physical Medicine team to Israel to help cope with poliomyelitis epidemic.
