Director, Berg River Textiles Ltd., Paarl and Constantia and Vantona Textiles Ltd., Paarden Eiland. Previously, Director, Great Universal Stores, London, Freeman of the City of Glasgow; Justice of the Peace for the City of Glasgow. A Rotarian for nearly 40 years and was a delegate at five Rotary International Conventions. A Freemason since 1906, having held Grand Lodge rank. Is Hon. Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge of the State of Israel; Past Master of three Cape Town Lodges, and of Lodge Montefiore No. 53, Glasgow (since 1919). Hon. Vice-President and Life Member, Glasgow Jewish Ex-Servicemen's British Legion. Past President, Glasgow Jewish Representative Council and Glasgow Jewish Institute. Past Treasurer, Glasgow Jewish Board of Guardians. Hon. Life President, Glasgow New Synagogue. Was Member of the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Hon. Vice President, British Section, World Jewish Congress. Founder Member, Glasgow Jewish Athletic Club. Hon. Vice-President, Manchester Children's Sunshine League. Member of several Sports and Social Clubs in Cape Town, England and Scotland. In the First World War, served for 3 years with the Royal Army Service Corps (Motor Transport).
