Pakter, Conan

PAKTER, Conan, B.A. Hons. T.T.D. Educationist. Born Lithuania 4th February, 1917, son of Jacob and Miriam Pakter. Came to South Africa 1930. Educated at Sea Point Boys' High School, University of Cape Town, Johannesburg College of Education and University of South Africa. Headmaster, Jewish Government School, Johannesburg 1956-59. Headmaster, King David Primary School at Victory Park, 1960- 1966. Since 1966 Assistant Director (Hebrew) S.A. Board of Jewish Education. Lecturer in charge of Modern Hebrew/Judaica, University of South Africa. Served on the Education Committee of the S.A. Jewish Orphanage 1956-60. Council member, South African Hebrew Teachers Association. During World War II saw military service in Egypt and Italy (1940-45). Married Freda, daughter of Mrs. Seine Segal and the late Rev. M.
