RACHMAN, Rabbi Zalman Wolf. Born Vilna, Poland, 10th January, 1922; son of Eliezer and Milly Rachman. Came to South Africa 1937. Completed schooling in Cape Town and studied for the Rabbinate in Jerusalem at the Mea Shearim Yeshiva; ordained as Rabbi by the Jerusalem Beth Din, Rabbi to the Windhoek Hebrew Congregation, South-West Africa, 1947-1967. Army Chaplain to S.W.A, and Walvis Bay Commands, Mayor's Chaplain. Member of the Windhoek Rotary Club. Appointed Rabbi to the Vereeniging United Hebrew Institutions in July 1967.
