Was President, United Hebrew Congregation, Johannesburg, 1957-58; Foundation Chairman, Oxford Synagogue, Johannesburg, 1942-44; Chairman again in 1962-63; Foundation President, Johannesburg Zionist Association, 1936-38; Vice-President, Otto Warburg Lodge, Hebrew Order of David, Pretoria, 1930-31; past President, Transvaal Young Israel Executive, 1926-1928; Past Chairman, S.A. Council Corporation of Secretaries (U.K.) 1951-53; past Vice-Chairman, Witwatersrand General Council of the United Party (under the leadership of the late General Smuts) and Chairman of the party's Johannesburg Municipal Executive, 1950-1953.
