Educated at Wynberg Boys' High School, University of Cape Town and British Postgraduate Medical School, London. Surgeon to Groote Schuur Hospital and Victoria Hospital, Wynberg. Lecturer in Surgery, University of Cape Town. Was Surgeon to Union Defence Force at Military Hospital, Wynberg, 1946-55; Hon. Surgeon, False Bay Hospital, 1946-56. During the Second World War served as major in the S.A. Medical Corps, 1941-46, with service in Middle East, North Africa and Italy. Married Dr. Sylvia C. Gavron, 1936; one son, two daughters. Recreations: Walking and sailing. Add.: Three Oaks, Riverside Road, Newlands, Cape.
