HORWITZ, Edel Jacob. Attorney. Born in Lithuania 17th August, 1902, son of Moshe Leib and Tsippe Taube Horwitz. Came to South Africa 1911. Educated at Malmesbury Boys' High School and University of Cape Town. Chairman, S.A. Zionist Federation 1959 - 1967; Vice-President S.A. Zionist Federation, since 1967. member of World Zionist General Council since 1960; President United Zionist Association, since 1959. President, S.A. Board of Deputies, 1958- 1959; Vice-President, 1956-58, and again since 1959. Chairman, 1951-56. Served in the General Service Corps in World War II with rank of Staff Sergeant.
