HURWITZ, Hyman Alex. B.A. (Wits.). Teacher. Born Lithuania 1st July, 1907, son of L. R. and S. A. Hurwitz. Came to South Africa October, 1921. Educated at Jeppe High School and University of the Witwatersrand. Teacher of science at Athlone Boys' High School. Previously taught at Johannesburg Indian High School. Was Hon. Secretary, Bloemhof Hebrew Congregation, 1937-43. Married Lulu Shull 7th July, 1935; one son, one daughter. Add.: 28, Willarda, 88, Louis Botha Avenue, Yeoville, Johannesburg.
