Was managing director Standard Creamery, Kimberley. Chairman, Griqualand West Ezrath Zion Association, 1957-61. Vice-president, Griqualand West Hebrew Congregation, and chairman, Hebrew Education Committee, 1954-1958. Chairman of the Kimberley Publicity Association. Former hon. treasurer, Native Relief Fund. During First World War served under Gen. Cilliers in South-West Africa, 1914, in the Potchefstroom Commando. Married Liebe Melamed, 1923; three sons, one daughter. Recreations: Gardening, reading.
