JAFFEE, Bessie. Communal Worker. Born Cape Town, daughter of Lazarus Pinn, who was a pioneer communal worker in the Cape. Educated at Good Hope Seminary, Cape Town. Plays leading part in Jewish Women's Benevolent and Welfare Society, Johannesburg; was chairman for four years and is a life hon. officer and member of its executive. Served on committee of S.A. Jewish Orphanage for 30 years and was made a life hon. member in 1957. Served as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Jewish Girls' Residential Club. Was married to the late Harry Jaffee, one of the leading industrialists in South Africa; two sons, one daughter. Add: 310, Bretton Woods, Killarney, Johannesburg.
