KAHN, Solomon. A.M.I.H. (S.A.). Director of Companies. Born
Riga, Latvia, 5th December, 1900, son of Raphael and Cilia Kahn. Educated at
Riga Gymnasium and St. Petersburg Politechnicum. Came to South Africa 1919.
Director of Kahn Properties (Pty) Ltd., Sashmore Properties (Pty) Ltd., Isim
Properties (Pty.) Ltd., Butterworth Hotel (Pty) Ltd., Hotel Sonna (Pty.) Ltd.
Until 1934 was diamond buyer and was connected with mining of diamonds and
copper. Served as Treasurer of local Jewish organisation before 1945. Member,
Circle Bowling Club. In the First World War served in the Latvian Death
Battalion and was wounded on the Riga Front, 1915-16. Married Lilith Rosalind
Rebecca Feinberg, 1929; one son, one daughter. Recreation: Bowls. Add.: 31, Las
