KAPLAN, Hymie. Coal Merchant. Born Poland, 1922, son of Iser and Judes Kaplan. Arrived in South Africa 1935. Educated at Doornfontein School. Held various offices in Doornfontein Shul, 1934- 1950, among them Warden; Warden, Emmarentia Synagogue, 1960-64. Member of the Jewish Guild Country Club.
