GERTNER, Rev. Abraham Zeev. Minister of Religion. Born in Lithuania 8th September, 1912, son of Gershon and Rachel Gertner. Educated at the Slabodka Yeshiva and Knesset Yisrael College. Came to South Africa in 1937. Served as Minister in Kopjes, O.F.S. until 1943; Frankfort 1943 to 1947; Springs 1947-1962. Married Chane Cipora Leibowitz, 1937; two daughters, Naomi and Rachel; Naomi is married to Rabbi I. Broder, Minister of the Summerstrand Hebrew Congregation, Port Elizabeth.
