Born in Hamburg, Altona, Germany, in November, 1887; came from a very Orthodox Jewish family; arrived in South Africa at the age of 21 years; settled in Cape Town in 1919; established his indent business in 1920. Chairman, Cape Board of Jewish Education, and also a Trustee of the Board. Vice-President, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Has for many years been connected with the Israel United Appeal in the Western Province and is Chairman of the Israel United Appeal Committee; Trustee and former Chairman United Hebrew Schools, Cape Town; of the United Trustee of the Cape Hebrew Teachers' Pension Fund.
