Goldwater, Harry Gerald


GOLDWATER, Harry Gerald, Gerald, B.A. (Cape), M.B., B.Ch. (Camb.), M.R.C.S. (Eng.), L.R.C.P. (London). Physician. Born Dublin, Ireland, 19th September, 1892, son of Woolf and Dora Goldwater. Came to South Africa 1893. Educated at Muir University College, College, Uitenhage, Rhodes University Grahamstown, Cambridge University, and Middlesex Hospital, London. Served in the British Army in World War I, 1916-1919; Lieutenant Royal Artillery; saw active service in France and Flanders. Served with the South African Forces in World War II, S.A.M.C., 1942-46; rank, Major; saw active service in Italy and Egypt. Received Commander- in-Chief's Commendation, 1946. Member, Inanda Polo Club, Johannesburg. Married Dora Greenberg, January 30th, 1935. Recreations: Walking, reading. Add.: 45 Burlington Court, Edith Cavell Street, Hospital Hill, Johannesburg.
