Educated at Kimberley Boys' High School and University of Cape Town. Director of Purnell & Sons (S.A.) (Pty.) Ltd., Publishers, Cape Town. Council Member of Institute of Citizenship; Patron of League for Civil Rights. Was co-Editor, "S.A. Jewish Chronicle," 1933-39; member of the Cape Committee of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies, 1946-49; Committee member, Dorshei Zion, 1934-39; Chairman, Cape Bar Council (1965-1967). Author of: "Let the Day Perish (1952); "The Crooked Rain" (1954); "Four People" (1964); "S.A. Law of Insurance" (1935); "Law of Compulsory Motor Vehicle Insurance" (with A. Suzman, Q.C.) (1954). During World War II served with 1st S.A. Division in Abyssinia, Somalia, Egypt, Libya. Commissioned June, 1942, and served as Information Officer in S.A.A.F. Married Nancy Muriel Baines, 1960; one son, one daughter. Add.: Still Point, 4th Beach, Clifton, Cape Town.
