GROLMAN, Barney. Died 1964. Born Sadowa, Lithuania 6th August, 1896, son of Joseph and Etta Riva Grolman. Came to South Africa 1912. Educated in London. Director of B. & A. Grolman (Pty.) Ltd.; Pan African Trading Co. (Pty.) Ltd.; PANAF Investment (Pty.) Ltd.; Voortrekker Investment (Prop.) Kinross Ltd.; Nurley (Pty) Ltd. In 1935 founded the wholesale and retail chainstore organisation of D. and D. H. Fraser (Pty.) Ltd., in Johannesburg, with branches throughout the Transvaal; resigned 1948. Foundation and Life member of Balfour Park. Married Hylda Cohen, 1922; one son.
