GRUP, Barney. Farmer and Miller. Born Joniskis, Lithuania, 10th October, 1909, son of Leib and Sarah Grup. Educated in Joniskis and Shavel, at Hebrew Gymnasium. Came to South Africa in 1929. Chairman of the Arlington Village Management Board. Member of various sporting and social clubs, and founder of the local bowling club; former Chairman of the local Social Club; Life member of the Arlington Tennis Club. During the Second World War was a member of the National Volunteer Reserve. Married Annie Ginsberg, 1938; one son, two daughters. Re- creations: Bowls, snooker, cards. Add.: P.O.
