Educated at Boys' High School, Pretoria, University of Cape Town and Guys Hospital, London. Hon. Medical Officer, Pietersburg Hospital, 1929-37. Member of the Brooklyn Bowling Club and M.O.T.H.'s. Served as major in the S.A. Medical Corps during the Second World War. Saw service in Egypt and Italy. Married 1932, wife's name Sylvia Zirah; three daughters. Recreations: Bowls, philately.
