Feldman, Louis (Leibl)


FELDMAN, Louis (Leibl) Born in Lithuania 8th June, 1896, son of Joseph and Minnie Feldman.  Came to South Africa 1910. Educated at Jewish Government School, Johannesburg. Director, L. Feldman, Ltd.; Tobacco and General Supplies Ltd. Chairman, Johannesburg Yiddish Folk School; played leading part for many years in S.A. Yiddish Cultural Federation; regular contributor to the Federation's Yiddish monthly, "Dorem Afrike," and previously to "Forois." Author of "Yidden in Dorem Afrike" (1937), "Oudtshoorn, Yerushelayim  B'Dorem Afrike" (1941); "Yidden in Johannesburg" (1955); "100 Yor Indier in Dorem Afrike"  (1961); "Motsudi Und Vi Azei Ich Bin Gevorren  a Dimant Grebber" (1962); "Mein Kuk Oif Geshichte" (1967).
