FRIED, Herman. Outfitter. Born Leipzig, Germany, 19th July, 1913, son of Moritz and Elizabeth Amalia Fried. Educated at Oberreal Schule, Leipzig. Owner of three men's outfitting stores in Cape Town. When first arrived in South Africa did window-dressing, commercial art work and acted as agent. Member, Cape Town Hebrew Congregation; foundation member, King David Country Club. Served with Coastal Defence Corps during World War II. Married Mary Julia Lang, 1939; one son, one daughter. Recreations: Swimming, horse riding, photography, painting, reading.
