FRIEDMAN Jack. Wholesale Butcher. Born in South Africa 18th May, 1917, son of Leibe and Annie Friedman. Educated at Athlone High School, Johannesburg, and Witwatersrand Technical College Art School. Previously was a silk screen and display artist. Member of Maccabi, Jewish Ex-Service League, Selwyn Segal Hostel. Served with the S.A.A.F. during World War II (five and a half years). Awarded the British Empire Medal in 1943 for gallant action at Antelat, Libya. Member of the Sandringham Bowling Club. Married Rose Gordon 1st January, 1946; two sons, one daughter.
