Chazan, Michael Simon


CHAZAN, Michael Simon. B.Sc. (Eng.) (Rand.), M.S.A.C.I., Chemical Engineer. Born in Lithuania, 6th October, 1919, son of Kalman and Masha Chazan. Came to South Africa in 1929. Educated at the Boys' High School, Cradock, and Witwatersrand University. Director of African Industrial Preservatives, Port Elizabeth; Albion Chemical Co. (Pty.) Ltd., and Industrial Supply Co. (Pty) Ltd. of Cape Town. During World War II was on the technical staff of the S.A. Air Force (1940-1941) and seconded to Chemical Services (1942-1946). While still in a military unit, was appointed Research Chemist to Klipfontein Organic Products. Committee Member, Herzlia School, since 1962; United Hebrew Schools since 1964; S.A. Jewish Ex-Service League. Married Pearl Nurick, December, 1949, three sons, one daughter. Recreation: Tennis. Add.: 29, Marmion Road, Oranjezicht, P.O. Box 279, Cape Town.
