CRAILSHEIMER, Frederick James. Mechanical Engineer and Manufacturer. Born Strasbourg, France, 1st August, 1901, son of Gustav and Henriette Crailsheimer. Educated at Lyceum Imperial, Strasbourg, and at Engineering High School, Munich. Came to South Africa 13th February, 1937. Proprietor of "Buttonia" Button Factory, Cape Town. Previously with engineering works in Cape Town and on the Gold Mines, Witwatersrand. Member of Cape Town Jewish Reform Congregation (Temple Israel) and its Brotherhood. Served with S.A. Forces in World War II, first with I.L.H., then with 36 and 38 Railway Construction Corps. Saw action in Abyssinia, Western Desert, Lebanon and Syria. Married Marie Cecilie Groger, 1st August, 1943; one son. Recreations: Hiking, swimming. Add.: "Elmdon," Kew Road, Mowbray, P.O. Box 3759, Cape Town.
