President, Port Elizabeth Orthodox Hebrew Congregation, 1949-50; President, United Hebrew Institutions of Port Elizabeth, 1946-49 and 1958-61; currently Vice-President, of P.E. Hebrew Congregation. Member, Rhodes University Council and Senate; Member, Council University of Port Elizabeth. Past President, Footwear Manufacturers' Association of S.A.; past President, Midlands Boy Scouts' Association, 1956-61; Chairman, Central Executive of Ratepayers' Associations, Port Elizabeth; member of various committees and vice-president of various sporting bodies.
