EAST, Arthur Sydney Anthony. Attorney. Born Riversdale, C.P., 8th March, 1910; son of Rev. J. M. and Sophia East. Educated at South African College School and University of Cape Town. Director of companies. Was for several years a City Councillor of Cape Town, and Chairman of its Traffic Control and Orchestra committees; former Trustee of the National Botanic Gardens at Kirstenbosch and the S.A. Public Library. During World War II served in S.A. Garrison Artillery and 11th Light anti-Aircraft Battery. Member, Netherlands Club; S.A. Turf Club; University Royal Commonwealth Society (London).
