EFFUNE, Jack Gustav. Born Latvia 30th September, 1894, son of Abo Lipman and Matla Effune. Came to South Africa 1901. Educated at Jeppe Central School, Johannesburg. Official on gold mines. Member, Springs Hebrew Congregation, Springs Country Club and Maccabi. Served in First World War with the Ninth South African Infantry (1915-17). Married 1925, wife's name Dora; three daughters.
