Educated in Antwerp, Belgium. Came to South Africa 1929. Member of Beth Hamedrash Hagodol, Johannesburg. Played active part in Jewish cultural work in Antwerp, where he was founder of "Entre Nous" Jewish Club and "Yediduth" Jewish Literary Society. Served in S.A. Intelligence Corps during World War II, including participation in East African Campaign; rank, Sergeant. Wife's name Marie; one daughter by previous marriage.
