ELKIN, Bernard. Director of Companies. Born in Ponevesh, Lithuania, on 29th January, 1888, son of Isaac and Mina Elkin. Arrived in South Africa 1904. Educated at Slabodka Yeshiva, Lithuania. Director of various Mining, Finance and Investment Companies. Previously a soap and chemical manufacturer and farmer. Served on the Executive Council of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies, 1942 and 1960-62, and S.A. Jewish Orphanage, 1940-1942; Executive member, IU.A. and U.C.F. Member, Houghton Golf Club, Killarney and Muizenberg Bowling Clubs.
