BASS, Anna. Gymnastics Teacher. Born Munich, Germany, 28th November, 1906; daughter of Max and Maria Mendle. Came to South Africa 1938. Educated at the Höhere Mädchenschule and Riemerschmid Handelschule, Munich, and Witwatersrand Technical College. Gymnastics Teacher at End Street Convent from 1943-1965. Part-time teacher, Domestic Science Department and Art School Department of Education, Arts and Science, Pretoria. Also conducts keep fit classes for adults. In 1939-40 trained physical education students at the Witwatersrand Technical College; 1935 winner of gymnastic event in the Maccabiah in Tel Aviv. International judge of gymnastics and acts as judge of gymnastic competitions for the S.A. Gymnastics Union. Recreations: tennis, skiing, mountaineering, music, theatre, lectures.
