BENNETT, Benjamin. B.A. (Pretoria). Journalist. Born London, England, 8th September, 1909; son of Jacob and Eva Bennett. Came to South Africa 1913. Educated at Kimberley Boys High School and Transvaal University College. Pretoria. Took Diploma at School of Journalism, London. Cape Town editorial representative of the "S. A. Jewish Times." Formerly Acting News Editor of "The Star," Johannesburg; News Editor of the "Cape Argus," Cape Town. Committee Member, Muizenberg Hebrew Congregation, 1956-58; member, Jewish Sheltered Employment Association and Jerusalem Institute for the Blind; Life Member of the Magen David Adom. During World War II was retained as key-man for special duties on "The Star." Author of fourteen. books on famous South African murder trials and mysteries, and of biographies of H. H. Morris, K.C. and Beauclerk Upington, K.C. Contributor to most South African papers and magazines (English and Afrikaans) and overseas publications.
