BRAUN, Albrecht. Director of Companies. Manager, Import and
Export Companies and Textile Sales Organisation. Born Freiburg-Baden, Germany,
10th July, 1902, son of Albert Braun (now living in Switzerland) and the late
Frieda Braun. Educated at high schools in Germany and in Universities of
Freiburg and Hamburg. Arrived in South Africa August, 1936. Director of
Intertex (Pty.) Ltd., and South African Import and Export Corporation, Cape
Town. Formerly Director of factory in Germany and Manager, Swiss-French
Corporation. Member, Ski Club of Switzerland and Austrian Soccer Club, Cape
Town. Served in the South African Forces in World War II from 1939 until
discharge in 1941; then joined Civilian Guard of Cape Town with rank of
Staff-Sergeant. Married February, 1927; wife's name, Elizabeth Katharina; one
