BRETT, Cyril. M.P.C., B.Com. Attorney. Born Rouxville, O.F.S., 16th September, 1931, son of Louis and Rita Brett. Educated at Rouxville High School and University of Cape Town. Elected Member of Cape Provincial Council in 1965. Committee Member, New Hebrew Congregation since 1966. Nominated by Cape Town Junior Chamber of Commerce for the "Most Outstanding Man of the year" competition, 1965; National Vice-President, South African Junior Chamber of Commerce, 1963; National Director of Education and Youth Activities, South African Junior Chamber of Commerce, 1962; President, Cape Town Junior Chamber of Commerce, 1962; Vice-President 1961; Committee Member, Cape Peninsula Council of United Party since 1963; Executive Member, Kloof and Gardens Ratepayers' Association since 1965; Secretary of Hayad, 1960. While at University was Chairman of the Cape Legal Articled Clerks' Association, Executive Member, Cape Zionist Youth Executive, Chairman of Students' Zionist Committee, Secretary for Students Welfare, Chairman of Publications Committee. Member, Publications Committee of the Cape Jewish Board of Deputies; Executive Committee of the Peninsula Council of the United Party. Married Hazel Cohen 31st March 1957; one son, one daughter.
