ABRAHAMSON, Rabbi A. R. Rabbi of the Lichtenburg Hebrew Congregation. Born Aneshisok- Rakishok, Lithuania. Educated at Kovne, Slabodke, Ponivez and Jerusalem. Emigrated to Israel 1925. Received Smicha from the Jerusalem Beth Din. Came to South Africa 1930 and for 15 years served as spiritual leader of the Claremont Hebrew Congregation, in Cape Town. Then was called to Kimberley, where he served six years as Rabbi; Upington, where he served seven years; and for the past seven years has been Rabbi of the Lichtenburg Hebrew Congregation. Married in 1925 and celebrated 40th wedding anniversary last year with a return visit to Israel; two sons, three daughters. Add.: 26, Buchanan Street, Lichtenburg.
