Educated in Germany at Universities of Marburg and Frankfort, and Yeshiva in Frankfort, and held position as Headmaster of Jewish High School in Breslau. Came to South Africa 1939. Cultural Officer, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Formerly Minister of the Oxford Synagogue, Johannesburg and Jewish Chaplain to the S.A. Defence Forces. Executive member of the S.A. National Youth Service Council; Chairman of the Johannesburg Council for Adult Education. Founder of the Jewish Museum in Johannesburg. Lecturer and writer on Jewish and general subjects. Recreations: reading and swimming. Married Frieda Nussbaum 1928; two sons, one daughter. Add.: 13, Abbotswold Road, Saxonwold, Johannesburg.
